Development and Validation of Probe Word List to Assess Speech Motor Skills in Children Research Receives Prestigious ASHA Editor’s Award
Big news! The researchers behind the Development and Validation of a Probe Word List to Assess Speech Motor Skills in Children received the prestigious Editor's award from the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology and American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) special Interest groups.
An Editor’s Award is presented to the editor's choice of the most meritorious single article appearing in each journal (in this case AJSLP in March 2021). Winning articles are selected by the editor-in-chief in collaboration with the editors on the basis of experimental design, teaching-education value, scientific or clinical merit, contribution to the professions, theoretical impact, and/or other indices of merit. It is truly a high honor.
Huge congratulations to Aravind Kumar Namasivayam, Anna Huynh, Rohan Bali, Francesca Granata, Vina Law, Darshani Rampersaud, Jennifer Hard, Roslyn Ward, Rena Helms-Park, Pascal van Lieshout, and Deborah Hayden on their award-winning research!
The award will be presented at the ASHA National Convention on Friday, November 18, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., ET in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
This research is the scientific backing to develop the Probe Words Assessment (MSH-PW) developed by the PROMPT Institute. The Probe Words Assessment is a criterion-based method used to assess a client’s motor speech control. It can be used to assess speech motor skills, aid in differential diagnosis and provide a measure of change over time regardless of treatment method. You can learn more about the assessment here.
